Dhydra Frequently Asked Questions

- Does RLTD support cannabinoid retention?
Yes. The low temperature, very-low-oxygen, dark conditions in the chamber—and the short processing times—means that your bud is dried while retaining the THC, CBD and other cannabinoid content.
- How many highly trained technicians are needed to operate the Kraken systems?
Two (or fewer) people with minimal training and no technical expertise can operate the system. Dhydra employs specialized food scientists that will analyze your needs, create the algorithms/recipes needed to properly dry your bud and provide these as menu driven choices for your workers.
- How many hours can the Kraken be operated for continuous processing
The Kraken can be run for 20 hours per day. An automated Clean-in-Place (CIP) cleaning cycle is required between runs.
- How much does it cost?
We actually don’t talk pricing until we’ve executed a mutual NDA between our companies. Our solution is very cost effective for large growers who need to process hundreds of pounds of cannabis bud on a regular basis.
- I need your service. When can I get started?
If you are in Canada:
We are currently providing our services to industrial-scale growers in Canada. We can demonstrate RLT Dehydration using your product, at our facility in Burnaby BC, or at your worksite. Upon receipt of your work order, and initial payment, we can have your system ready for shipment in less than 100 days.
Dhydra Technologies is very excited about providing the global market with our services. We will be ready to service international clients, outside Canada but not in the USA, in late 2019.
Export to the USA:
We look forward to engaging with our American friends and will enter the US market as soon as the US federal government changes the regulations for cannabis.
Dhydra’s current configurations may be suitable for high-value hemp that is being grown to produce CBD. At this time, while we are not seeking customers that are growing hemp, we’d be delighted to talk with you.
If you are a “craft” sized grower, (for example, you have a Health Canada Micro-Cultivation License), please be patient. We hope to address this market at some point with a small-scale version of our system.
- Is it a batch system?
It is a continuous system, using trays, with automated infeed and outfeed capabilities.
- What about terpene loss?
We capture all the value in the plant! Yes, some low-boiling-point terpenes will be lifted from the bud, however these are retained in the water captured from the system and you can recover these terpenes to enhance your product and earn additional revenues.
The RLTD process can be adjusted to vary the ratio of terpenes-left-in-the-bud vs terpenes-lifted-from-the-bud. Dhydra will adjust your strain-based drying recipes to produce your desired outcomes.
- What do you mean by odor mitigation?
Growing and trimming cannabis creates distinct odors that some people find unpleasant. Traditional drying and curing creates even stronger odors. Dhydra’s Kraken is a closed loop system that captures released vapor and eliminates the unpleasant odors. The subtle smells released by RLTD could be more correctly called (low-intensity) fragrances than odors.
- What is the through-put of a Kraken system?
150 lbs. (or more) per hour can be processed using the Kraken RLTD system. (Depending on the model.)
